Canva APPS Part 6
Canva just launched a built-in Texture App, and it changes everything. This guide shows you how to use it, where to find it, and which textures to try first to add depth and visual richness to your designs.
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you know one thing — I texture everything.
Textures give your designs depth. They add grit, mood, and realism that flat colors or gradients can’t match. And now Canva just made it way easier with a brand-new Texture App.
The new Texture App lets you apply overlays like:
Worn paper
Brushed strokes
Glitch effects
Grainy gradients
Paint textures
Speckled mist
And more
You can use these textures to layer over your images and instantly give your design more visual personality.
Go to the Apps tab inside Canva
Search for “Texture”
Select the app created by Ryan Stevens
Choose an image in your design
Apply your favorite texture directly from the app
Done. No downloading assets, no manual blending, no hacks.
Here are a few of my go-to picks from the app:
Slide 3 ➝ Abstract lights
Slide 4 ➝ Brushed chaos
Slide 7 ➝ Worn paper
Each adds its own vibe, and the app lets you preview them in real-time so you can experiment quickly.
Textures are often the final 10% of a design that makes it look professional.
Without them, visuals can feel flat. With them, your work feels more designed, more custom, more yours.
This app saves time and gives you dozens of new ways to make your content stand out.

Margins are one of Canva’s most overlooked features — and one of the easiest to use. This tutorial shows you how to turn on margins, rulers, and guides to instantly improve your layouts and design like a pro.
